One of the other major responsibilities of the Punjab Daanish Schools and Centers of Excellence Authority is to take up existing high / higher secondary schools which are lacking in terms of infrastructure like class rooms, laboratories, libraries and toilet facilities etc for the students. The selection of schools as COEs is need based with preference to less developed areas.
Besides providing the missing facilities and improvement in infrastructure, the most important objective is to induct competent and motivated teachers thereby ensuring better management and quality education.
In Phase I, one boys and one girls school in selected Districts is being converted as COE with the final objective of subsequently converting 72 Schools into Centers of Excellence i.e. one in each Tehsil.
Given assured funding, the project will be completed in a phased programme within three years.
