The school is situated in the walled city of Lahore near Badshahi mosque. This school is within well known Havely Dhyan Singh. The building was constructed during the rule of AKBAR BADSHAH and in the regime of Maha Raja Ranjeet Singh it was handed over to his commander Dhyan Singh. In 1854, Diyal Singh High School was established in the building. The first office of Punjab Sabha was also started over here. After independence of Pakistan, in 1948, the local community established City Muslim League High School in a portion of the Havely. At that time school owned 26 kanals of rented land, 62 class rooms, one multipurpose hall historically it was court yard of Dhyan Singh Havely. The very first classes of Punjab University and Govt. College Lahore also commenced in this building. The school was nationalized in 1972. The school presently owns 10 kanals of land which was purchased from Administrator Kashmir Property Affair Govt. of Pakistan in 1982. One block of building was constructed in 1987 and second one in 2004 after demolishing all the old rooms. Role of honour includes Nawabzada Saeedullah Khan, Dr. Syed Muhammad Abdullah, Dr. Abdul Waheed Qureshi Ex-Principal Oriental College, Dr. Asad Naseer Heart Specialist (Canada), Muhammad Azeem Jimmy Pehlwan Asian Gold medalist, Gen. (R) Safdar Mehmood But Ex-Chairman WAPDA, Moulana Kusar Niazi, Abdul Rasheed Qayum Ex-Director Education Lahore & Punjab and Ms Kiran Dar MNA. The school has recently been declared as Center of Excellence on 08 June 2016 under umbrella of Punjab Daanish Schools & Centers of Excellence Authority.
Currently the school has 21 x class rooms, 02 x laboratories, one computer Lab and one library. The school staff consists of 28 (20 Teaching Staff and 8 non teaching staff) and currently students strength is 857 having eleven Academic Levels from Prep to Grade-10.
PEC and Board exams results in previous years were quite encouraging. Last year PEC result was 63% whereas this year the result of PEC is 100 %. During 2014 & 2015 the Board results of class 9th were 30% & 26% whereas for class 10th was 76% & 73% respectively.
