Poverty is an ethical issue, not a statistical one. One of the main tools to fight poverty is to educate the underprivileged and vulnerable and provide them a level playing field in the society. This is incumbent upon any society or a Government. The initiative for the establishment of Daanish Schools falls within this philosophical ambit of poverty alleviation and putting in place a social safety net. The Daanish Schools are designed to provide best education facilities to the poorest of the poor. They will be elite schools in terms of quality education and are designed to compete with the best institutions.
The Punjab Government will bears all the education and residential expenses for the girls and boys in the Daanish Schools. The social classes of the underprivileged for the purpose of eligibility have been classified in seven categories explained in the Academics Section. These will determine the admission criteria.
